A lot of business owners do whatever they can to cut costs when building up their company and one of those costs being cut is their website. It makes sense. In the beginning, they may be hesitant to invest 2 or 5 thousand dollars in a website for their business because they may not be sure if the business will succeed. However, once the business turns one or two years old, it may be time to level up your website and get a website built that is actually a marketing engine and not only a digital brochure. Who Our Client Is

Our client, Trent Advisors, is a life and health insurance agency that is focused on helping their clients find the best solutions possible based on their individual needs and circumstances. Their business is growing and they needed help to put marketing systems together and that included a new website. You see, their current website was built by the owner of the company, Jeffrey, using Squarespace. The site didn’t look bad by any means but Jeffrey knew he wasn’t getting the results he knew he should. He asked me about the technology and what he should be doing to get to the next level in his business.

Website Technology

One thing I want to stress is the technology you use really doesn’t matter. Wix, SquareSpace, WordPress, Shopify, and Weebly all have strengths and weaknesses. In some areas, Wix is better than WordPress. In other areas, WordPress is better than Squarespace. It really doesn’t matter. I believe that the best technology is the one you are using. Our weapon of choice happens to be WordPress but that isn’t what makes our websites so great. What makes our websites great is the strategy we put into them. Our websites aren’t just brochures. We look at them as marketing tools, your marketing engine. The website is what powers the rest of your marketing machine. It is where most of your leads come from and will flow through. You need to make sure you have a strategy for when they enter your site. After I explained all that to Jeffrey, we were able to create a strategy for his agency to build his marketing engine. A priority for him was to be able to easily capture website leads, make it simple for clients to find contact information, and for his clients and prospects to easily contact the office via the website. Another unique vision Jeffrey had for the site was an interactive partner page so his clients could find vendors for other things they’d need to be done from home and car insurance to real estate to even marketing services. He wanted a system to facilitate referrals for his trusted partners.

The Website Redesign Process

We got to work bringing Jeffrey’s visions to life from crafting lead generators to building out the preferred vendor partner page. We began the process with a sitemap and website wireframe. This is where we build out how the content will flow and the purpose of each page. Once all that was set, we designed the homepage and internal pages of the WordPress website so they are both attractive and functional. Usability and user-friendliness are both two important aspects to keep in mind when building a business website. We then pull over the content from the wireframe into the fully designed site to do our final flight check. The website is now live and usable.
