Safety becomes rather important, especially in a performance sports car. While newer Camaros have a range of safety systems to help you out, nothing becomes more important than the part literally slowing your Camaro down - which is your braking system. We offer a range of services for brakes, from inspection to repair and of course replacement. What are some of the basics of Camaro brakes and brake repair? Brakes are meant to wear out, which isn’t a bad thing at all! Worn brakes mean they have been doing their job as you navigate traffic and stop signs. The Camaro is not your average sedan, though the braking system works like many others. You’ll have a container of brake fluid under the hood, which assists in sending the pressure you feel when applying the brake pedal. Within this system, some metal links ensure the brake pad and rotor move so the brake pad makes contact with the axle when you need it to.  We see fewer master cylinder and under the hood issues with Camaros because the brake pads do most of the work. How do I know my Chevrolet Camaro brakes are wearing down? Brake issues tend to make themselves known pretty well. Manufacturers install a small metal pin in brake pads start to make a squealing noise when your brake pads are wearing down heavily.  This is your signal to take your Camaro into our shop soon. Some customers ignore this sound - though it’s loud, and keep driving for too long. They tend up needing rotors as well, and we can help there too. You might also notice your Camaro doesn’t slow down as quickly as in previous driving, even in good weather. The inability to slow down well certainly becomes a sign you need help sooner than later. Should I follow basic maintenance schedules for Camaro brakes? We highly recommend following your Camaros basic maintenance schedule, and Chevrolet does mention brake inspections. These are great ideas regardless of how long you’ve had your vehicle, as brakes are quite important when we talk about safety. Bring your Camaro in to see us and we’ll find anything else you might need to keep on the road. Why should I choose you for my Camaro brake repairs? Camaro drivers tend to drive their cars hard but maintain them quite well. We would love to help you maintain the vehicle of your dreams. Our garage is family owned and has been in business for a long time, driven by a desire to keep our local customers Camaros on the road. Check our reviews and you’ll see we pride ourselves on treating our customers well enough to keep them coming back.
