Inside the battery is a strong sulfuric acid solution and alternating lead plates to create a chemical reaction to transform chemical energy into electrical energy. The plastic shell is acid-resistant and robust to prevent leakage.
To keep your battery in good health:
- Don't leave your headlights on. They will discharge the battery quickly.
- When you leave your car, ensure the doors are latched, and everything in the interior is turned off.
- Habitually check or have checked your battery contacts. Good battery operation depends on solid connections.
- Prevent your car's exposure to severe heat or cold. Extreme temperatures will shorten battery life.
- If a single drive drains your battery, there is a good chance you need a new alternator.
