Do you drive around with your windows open, elbow out the window? A sunburned left arm may look cool in a James Dean sort of way, but the reality is that you probably have a failed air conditioning system. The fix may be simple and inexpensive. Even if you think your system only needs a recharge, an air conditioning function test is quick and reasonably priced. The usual suspect in a system needing recharge is a leak. A visual inspection will identify obvious causes of problems, including leaks. We identify the refrigerant type called for in your system. It may be that a previous mechanic has put the wrong kind of refrigerant in your vehicle, causing your problems. The system performance test enables us to determine if the problem is with the refrigerant, electrical, or air distribution systems. We connect our state-of-the-art air conditioning machine to test the air conditioning system components.  Most vehicles have a cabin air filter. These filters can become clogged and can be the reason for low air pressure through the air conditioning system. If someone in your family has an allergy problem, we can install a cabin air filter capable of filtering contamination as small as pollen. During a leak check, we will investigate the three most likely components to leak: Evaporator Refrigerant changes to a gaseous state in the evaporator, causing a cooling effect. Air blows across the evaporator, then into your cabin. The evaporator is under the dashboard; replacing it is time-consuming, so we want to rule that out first. Compressor Air conditioning compressors usually fail because of a leak or bad bearings. The compressor powers the system. As it leaves the compressor, the refrigerant becomes pressurized and hot. When a compressor has previously been replaced, debris left in the system from the earlier compressor failure is often the cause of new parts going bad soon after replacement. When we replace a failed compressor, we install a filter to confine debris still running around the system. Condenser The condenser is located behind the grill and in front of the radiator. The condenser is downstream from the compressor, where it can reduce the refrigerant’s temperature without lowering pressure. As the name of this structure implies, refrigerant changes state here from gas to liquid. We will promptly diagnose your AC problem and fix it cost-effectively. Even though our prices are lower than dealer service, we do not use second-rate parts and do not compromise quality. Call or visit our website for an appointment to get you on the road in comfort.
