Enjoying driving around your Audi on long-drives, road-trips, etc.? Well, your ride needs some care as well. Not sure how frequently you should take your Audi A3, A5 or whichever model you have to an auto repair shop for an oil change? Not sure how to identify when your vehicle requires an oil change? Well, stick around a little further to get your answers. When do you need to schedule your first oil-change for your Audi? First and foremost, you should always check the owner’s manual from the manufacturer specific to your car’s make and model. For an Audi, after every 10,000 miles driven or a span of 12 months, you should go for changing the oil and the filter for your vehicle from the nearest auto repair shop. However, it is common for many vehicles needing an oil change after every 5,000 miles travelled or after every 6 months. Nevertheless, it is important to go through your manual and find the suitable time for your car. You wouldn’t want to empty your engine oil and then get it changed, neither changing it too frequently either. Why You Need to Change Your Oil Engine oil is an essential part of any vehicle be that Audi or Volkswagen. It is required for smooth functioning of the engine just like alignments, tire rotations, brake inspections are necessary element of vehicle maintenance. Oil helps keep all the metallic parts lubricated, hence preventing too much friction and heat being produced. Consequently, this will help you prevent an overheated engine and a potential engine damage. The oil filter, meanwhile, keeps your oil free from contaminants, so it can perform better. All in all, following proper and frequent oil and filter change will eventually increase your vehicle’s engine life for you.   Warning Signs to Change Oil Apart from the warning light on the dashboard and the color and consistency of the oil, some other relevant signs to look out for include:
  • Loud engine noises: When the oil breaks down, it won't properly lubricate the parts, hence resulting in a loud knocking sound coming from the engine.
  • Exhaust smoke: If you see smoke coming out of the tailpipe of your car, then check the oil. There could be a leak in the engine, which would need to get repaired right away.
  • Burnt oil smell: Another indicator of a leak is a burnt oil odor inside the cabin. If the smell is mixed with the smell of gasoline, then the vehicle is overheating, and oil is burning into the exhaust area.
These warning signs are vivid indicators that an oil change is required. Even if there are no such signs and you can’t recall the last time the oil was changed, then you should get it changed again. Once you do get the oil changed, note down the date and then follow a schedule according to that particular date. write down the date and be sure to stick to a healthy schedule. This in turn will help keep the engine of your car healthy and strong for a long time and you would not face engine replacements. For optimal maintenance and repair of your vehicle, you should carefully select the right auto repair shop in your neighborhood like Fremont Foreign Auto Repair Shop. They are known to be one of the best at providing such services to their customers like oil change, engine repair, etc.
