When the source of the loss on your property comes up from your sewer line, it is considered a category 3 loss. Any type of sewage or wastewater backup from either a toilet or sink is considered a biohazard because it carries human wastes which can transmit harmful and infectious materials. Exposure to sewer backups (commonly called black water) can result in infections, illnesses and in very serious cases, death due to the pathogens that are often found in wastewater. Because black water is so harmful to your health, it is critical to have our team on site as soon as the problem is discovered. Our team is trained to take action right away to contain the potentially harmful materials in order to ensure the health and safety of all on site.
Step One: Seal off the Space -- When our team arrives on site our first step is to quarantine the contaminated area off from the rest of the building to prevent the possible spread of any disease carrying bacteria, viruses, fungi or other potentially harmful contaminants.
Step Two: Remove Damaged Materials and Contaminants -- It is very important that anything that has been touched by the soiled water be properly cleaned and decontaminated. In some cases, affected materials must be discarded. Our team is trained to know what can safely be cleaned and what needs to be removed.
Step Three: Place Equipment -- Equipment is placed to create a drying environment. This may include thermal units, dehumidifiers, air movers and air scrubbers. This equipment will remain in place until the area is dry and safe.
Our technicians are highly trained and certified in industry standards and best practices. We’ll arrive promptly to assess the situation and develop an efficient and effective cleanup strategy for the situation, allowing you and your family to get back to your normal routine as quickly as possible.
