The Sign Authority in Wheaton, IL recently refaced a custom way finding/parking sign for the Morningside Group at Northshore 770 in Northbrook, IL. The Morningside Group recently completed this luxury apartment complex, located the Chicago area. The Sign Authority has been working with the Morningside Group on several of their new construction projects around the Chicago area. We were contacted because the original design of this wayfinding/parking sign was not easy to read. Sometimes when an architectural firm designs signage, the drawing looks great, but the overall finished sign does not translate into the vision the designer had in mind. Morningside Group contacted us to help.
As you can see in this photo, the sign was very difficult to read. The corrugated background was a nice idea, but does not translate well for readability. Black letters on a grey background also do not allow enough contrast for the viewer to read the sign properly. Look at the size of the letters! Too small to read!
Now, look at the re-designed sign on the main photo at the top of this article. The smooth backer, and the white bold letters and the “P” parking symbol, create just enough contrast for great visibility. This is a high-end apartment complex, so the signage as you enter the driveway should represent the up-scale look and feel of the property. All of the letters and the “P” parking symbol were fabricated with 1/2″ thick flat cut acrylic and mounted to the face to create a nice upscale sign to welcome future residents.
The Sign Authority has been working with Morningside Group for the past several years on many projects from construction signs to interior and exterior signs for the finished property.
