We applied the logo and an inspirational quote in two different locations inside their facility.
Custom wall decals can be created in a variety of ways. In this case the vinyl was printed and laminated because the client wanted a very specific color. Sometimes we can match “close to” colors with our calendared vinyl but in some cases, like this one, they wanted a very specific color to match their logo colors. In other cases, a simple standard color will do. The nice thing is that our clients have so many choices.
Applying wall graphics can pose some unique challenges. The surface of the wall must be smooth without any imperfections, as they will show through the vinyl and make the surface of the vinyl bubble and in some cases, not adhere properly. If we are dealing with new construction, we always suggest if the walls are freshly dry walled, they use a primer, a semi-gloss, or at the very least a satin paint for the wall surface to help with adhesion of the vinyl.
The bigger issue is applying graphics to freshly painted walls because of the out-gassing. Freshly painted walls emit gaseous solvents, so there must be a waiting period for the paint to cure. Gasses will get trapped under the wall graphic and can cause bubbles or react chemically with the adhesive to cause the wall graphic adhesion to fail. We recommend waiting at least 5 days from the time the wall has been painted before applying the wall graphic. Coordination with the install team and the client is critical to assure a successful outcome.
