What Type of New Retail Sign Should I Put at My Storefront in Naperville, IL?

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Custom-Building-Sign-naperville-wheaton-lisle-carolstream-glenellyn-ilThe Sign Authority, Inc recently fabricated and installed a new storefront sign for Stolen Moments Center in Naperville, IL. Our client just completed the build-out for her new spa location in the upscale shopping center on Freedom Drive in Naperville. When you are choosing a new sign for your location you ask yourself the question – “What type of new retail sign should I put at my storefront?

Your Sign Should Suit Your Location

There are several things to consider when choosing a sign. Take a look around the shopping center to see what signs work well in your location. You will want your sign to be in keeping with the look and feel of the other businesses in the shopping center. If your business is located in a historic district, for instance, your sign should convey the feel of that time period. If you are in an upscale shopping center, you will want your sign to convey that energy and sophistication. While you want your sign to stand out to your clientele, you don’t want it to detract from your building or its surroundings. In the case of Stolen Moments Center, they chose a more upscale type of sign to fit in with the other upscale businesses. The sign shown in the above photo is a custom aluminum sign with a push through acrylic logo. The Eiffel Tower portion of the logo could not be easily lit, so we applied that portion of the logo in vinyl with stunning results

How Will Your Sign Be Seen?

Think about who will be seeing your sign. Will your patrons be primarily walking by your store? Then you will want to consider a sign that can be viewed by a pedestrian. How far away do you want your sign to be seen?

Will your customers find you by driving by your location? Then the size and content of your sign must be visible and readable from the street. Depending on your business hours, consider how well your sign will be visible at night and what your lighting options are.

Readability of your sign is of the utmost importance. Don’t try to put too much information on your sign. The most important thing is to make sure that potential customers know what your business is, what you do.  Take a look at other storefront signs outside similar businesses in your neighborhood. Walk or drive through your area at different times of day and night to see which signs work and which ones are hard to read. What do their signs say about their business?
