I can’t tell you how many times we receive artwork from our customers in which the file is the size of a postage stamp, and the resolution is bottom of the line. And it is typical for the customer to want this tiny, tiny image to be blown up to 4′ x 8′ so they can create a post and panel of it. As true as this may be, there is always hope. If I am given artwork of this quality, of coarse I ask the customer if they have it in vector format.
Vector is a type of file. Vector is an AI file or a special PDF that has vector drawings within the file. The reason vector is so critical…it DOES NOT PIXILIZE. I can take the image, and make it as large as a building, and you will not see any blockiness or rough edges. Why you ask. Vector images are made of lines calculations, and AI (Adobe Illustrator) can recalculate manipulations by lengthening or shortening the lines in the drawing, and adjusting the color of the fills accordingly.
That is ideal. Real world tells me that many customers don’t have access to the AI file, or don’t know where it is. Well, let us recreate it for you. If the file you have has ‘enough’ detail, we can recreate the image in vector format. It ultimately depends on the beginning quality of the file you hand us.
Call us if you have a project and a low quality starter file, and we’ll give it our best shot to transform your file into vector artwork.
