Signage FAQs | How Do I Care for A Banner?

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Banners are great for temporary promotions and special events. For those wishing to use banners time and again, we recommend the following steps to keep your banner looking fresh:

  1. Clean your banner lightly with water and a mild detergent or hand soap to remove any dirt or debris. Dry the banner thoroughly with a soft cloth or rag. Never use harsh cleaners or solvents which can damage your banner.
  2. Roll up your banner with the printed side facing OUT. NEVER fold a banner as it will leave creases.
  3. Store your banner in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from heating vents. Also, avoid prolonged exposure to heat (car trunks, storage garage, etc.)

A properly maintained banner can be used many times over and is a great way to save money and the environment.

If you should get creases in your banner, follow these steps:

  1. Place the banner on a flat surface
  2. Using a clothes iron set to “cotton” and a wet towel, place the wet towel on the creased area and apply the hot iron.  This will cause steam which will help to relax the banner material.  **CAUTION: DO NOT PUT THE IRON IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE BANNER!!**
  3. You can also lay the banner out flat in the sun or heat with a hairdryer to remove creases.

We recommend that you test all of the above methods on an inconspicuous part of the banner before applying to the entire banner.  Use caution and be mindful of any cut vinyl adhesive or banner tapes. Discontinue all actions if you note any adverse reaction on your banner and consult your local sign professional for further assistance.
