Pre-Session Conversations
Firstly, you should schedule a stretching session with us, as we don’t want you to have to wait for one of our recovery specialists to become available to take care of you. However, if you don’t mind a slight wait, feel free to drop by any of our locations!
Assuming you’ve scheduled a session, we’d prefer you to show up about ten or so minutes beforehand. This way, you’ll have a chance to meet and talk to the recovery specialist who’ll be working with you and can start the actual stretching part on time.
Regardless, before your session begins, you’ll need to have a short conversation with your specialist.
During this conversation, you should list any specific muscle groups prone to getting tight and stiff, what your goals are short-term and long-term, if you’ve had any previous injuries that might affect your ability to stretch in certain ways, etc.
What To Wear
Obviously, you should wear something you are able to move around in. No tight jeans or anything along those lines will work. Yogo pants plus a comfy T-shirt and a pair of socks are usually best.
You should also avoid wearing jewelry of the loose and dangling variety. As you’ll be stretching in all sorts of ways, we don’t want anything to get caught.
Your Session With Us
Many of the details of the session will vary.
After all, if you’re stretching to recover after an injury, you’ll probably need to keep your session short. Meanwhile, if you stretch yourself on the regular, you may be up to a longer and more intense session. Most sessions will last somewhere between a half to a whole hour.
What will stay the same regardless is the fact that our recovery specialist will walk you through each step, help you get into the various positions, answer any and all questions, and tailor your session for you specifically.
What will also stay the same is how the session makes you feel. Some of the stretches should be intense and should even make you ache when you first get into position. However, this ache should fade; think of it like the good sort of ache you get when working a knot out of a muscle.
Post-Stretching
If we did our job right, you should feel loose, limber, and just a little relaxed. Try to stay hydrated, and have fun with whatever you have planned to do next!
Keep paying attention to how you’re feeling for the next few days. Is there any area where your muscles seem more sore than elsewhere? Any places where you really want to target more the next time around?
Note anything you think of and share it with us at your next session so we know what adjustments to make so you get the perfect customized stretching experience!
