I thought I would write a blog this week about the types of files that work best for producing excellent banners and signs. The most common types of files are AI (adobe Illustrator)  EPS files, but just because you have one of these file types doesn't mean it will give you the best image at any size. Vector files are the only files that will allow you to enlarge the image to almost any size you can think of. The easiest way to think about this is, vector files are images with solid lines, so no matter how large you want your image, the lines will look good. If you try and utilize a low quality image and blow it up larger then what was intended the you will get a blurred image at closer ranges. This is commonly called pixilation. Even with photographs , there is a limit on how large they can be expanded to, this is determined by the amount of mega pixels. The  more megapixels, the large you can make the image and keep the details. But it is still a picture, so it does have it's limits on how large they can be made.
