Recently we were contacted by the owner of Hazel’s Coffee house, located in Monroe, NC. They contacted us because they were just opening a new store and needed some signs and one of the first things they noticed is that the sun coming in during the day was very bright and hot. So while they needed the standard signs, they also wanted something to help with the heat coming thru the windows.
In the image on the left, you can see a picture of the front of the coffee shop. In this image you can see where we added window perforation to the top section of the windows. By adding this perforation to the window, it had helped reduce the amount of heat coming from the sun and does not affect the view from the inside at all. The coffee cup on the right side is done out of window perforation as well, so that customers can see thru it and not have a big blank spot when looking outside. Then instead of printing the text onto the window perforation, the customer requested that we print and cut those separately so that they could change them if they wanted to or even add or remove individual words without having to reprint the whole thing. This customer also had an LED sign that they wanted to incorporate behind the window perforation. This shows thru the perforation when turned on and is hidden when it is off
Hazel’s Coffee House is a brand new business located right off of Highway 74 in Monroe, NC. They not only have a lot of different types of coffee, but also offer customer soda’s as well. If you are traveling thru Monroe, be sure to stop by for a hot cup of coffee, espresso, or one of their many other types of hot drinks.
In order to produce these signs, we took some pictures of the front of the building and then measured everything (twice). We then came back to the office and gathered the notes from the customer and started designing the front of the business. Since this work is done on the computer, we were able to show them a couple different options of colors and they could see what it would look like on their business. Once the customer decided on the colors and text we were able to start printing and cutting all of the graphics. Then it came time for the install, windows all had to be cleaned very well, so that the adhesive would adhere to the windows without any trouble. Once the window perforation was installed then we proceeded to install the text on top, per the drawings approved by the customer.
When installing window perforation, like we did for Hazel’s Coffee House, it’s important to consider multiple factors. First , do you want to change the text that is on there or would you like to just have some pictures along with the text. Another thing to consider is also the local codes, some localities, only allow you to cover 50% of the window, but this can vary greatly between cities. So we will be sure to check on this for you before proceeding too far into the process. Next, thing to consider is, are you trying to block out the sun, add some security, or just advertise you business.
