A family photo session is that time you come together to store moments in still images. A lot goes into creating awesome family photos, from preparation to the actual shooting.  To create a memorable photo session, both your photographer and you have a role to play. Here are some tips for creating a family photo session you’ll remember.

  1. Get a Professional Photographer

You can never create memorable photo sessions if you do not have a professional photographer. The photographer has the equipment required to create quality photos and has the experience to advise on everything from location to clothing and props. Therefore, the next time you need to capture those golden moments, pick a professional photographer to do it.

  1. Pick a Perfect Time for the Photos

You need to have photos taken when everyone is at their best. Are you a morning person? Then a morning session may be right for you. You get to take advantage of the morning sunlight, everyone feels fresh at the time, and the children are less fussy.

Professional photographers recommend around 10 am as the best time, especially for indoor photography. There is always enough light, even on dull days, and infants are already awake and full of energy!

Another great time for a session is what photographers call Golden Hour. That’s the hour before sunset. Choosing this time ensures that you will have beautiful golden light in your images.

  1. Prepare for the Photo Shoot

The element of surprise does not play well when you want great images taken. Not only is everyone required to be at their best, but they are also required to be mentally prepared for the session. Therefore, prepare them for this exciting experience.

Plan what everyone will wear for the session. You can also have two sets of outfits to vary your images. Besides, ensure everyone is in their best mood so that they will not have to force those smiles when the camera starts rolling. It also does not hurt to give the kids a few treats to excite them before and during the session.

  1. Location Matters A lot

The location of the photoshoot is as good as preparing everyone for the session. It does not have to be some fancy outdoor destination. You can take amazing pictures in your living room with the right arrangement and props. Your manicured yard is also a fantastic location for a photo session. However, it still does not hurt to take your family out for an outdoor photo session.
