Why I choose Lifestyle Newborn Photography Photography has been my passion for more than 20 years and newborn sessions have a special place in my heart. There’s nothing more amazing than a new life. It doesn’t matter if this is baby number one or number five. The first few weeks are filled with joy, wonder and exhaustion. I’m so grateful that new parents trust me to come into their homes to spend time with their newest family member. Initially, I offered both posed and lifestyle newborn sessions. But I couldn’t figure out why I was filled with dread before posed sessions. After all, I thought I wanted to take newborn photos to rival Anne Geddes. You know, newborns in watermelons or posed looking angelic and perfect. I studied the techniques, took courses and filled my studio with props, hats, wraps and outfits. But I found that my heart just wasn’t in it. And then it hit me. When I do family sessions my goal is to capture the emotion and connection between family members. And I realized that’s what I was missing. There was no emotion or connection in my posed newborn images. I want to capture the moments when new parents get to know their little one or the way the siblings interact with their new baby brother or sister. I want parents to be able to look back at their photos for years to come and remember what that special time was like.
