Markham, ON – 5 Tips for Designing the Best Retractable Banner for Your Small Bu…

Banner with Logo

A retractable banner is a key tool for every Toronto area business. A retractable banner has a base and stand that support the vinyl graphic. Retractable banners, as the name suggests can be pulled out for display and retracted when not in use.  They are also known as pop up banners, stand up banners or pull up banners.  These banners are most frequently used for trade shows and events, but are also used for product information in stores and for advertising in many businesses.  A key advantage of the retractable banner is that it is highly portable and comes with a carrying bag as well. To get the most of out your retractable banner, there are a few things to consider when designing your  retractable banner.  Read on to learn more.

  1. Your retractable banner should reflect your brand

Every marketing professional will tell you the importance of maintaining brand consistency and this is true also for your banners. Your banner should reflect your company, your logo, colours and convey the image you have built for your business. Make sure your logo has great real estate on your banner, this will ensure your potential customers will see it and remember it. Make sure to stick to the colours of your brand guidelines and your banner should have the same look and feel as your website, brochures and other marketing material.

If you haven’t yet documented brand guidelines, you can still maintain brand consistency by using your logo, colours and fonts consistently on your website and all marketing material including your retractable banner.

  1. Use white space to create a clean and balanced look

Having adequate white space is important for any design, whether on your website, your print material or your banners. White space gives the text space to breathe and allows the reader to absorb the text without feeling overwhelmed by the text and images. Along with white space, you need to think about how you create balance in your banner. Should you left align the text? What font should you use? when should you use all caps? These are all things to consider along with adequate white space to create a clean and balanced look for your retractable banner.

  1. Consider the size you want your retractable banner be

In most cases when it comes to banners one may think that ‘bigger is better’, but this is not necessarily the case.  You want to think about what you are using the banner for and where you intend to place it.  If you want an outstanding retractable banner that will help your booth stand out at an event or trade show, you may want to select a large 60” banner that is very impressive and sturdy. On the other hand, if you have a store and you want a banner that doesn’t take up too much space and is more economical, you may want a more traditional size banner of 33.5”.  If you had no floor space and you could only place some advertising on a table, you may want to go with a tabletop banner which you can place on a table. So, it really depends on what you need for your business. If you are unsure, we can help give you some recommendations as well.

  1. What text and images should you use?

One key image you want to include on your retractable banner is your logo. The next thing to remember is to use high-quality images.  A low quality image will result in a blurry banner and you definitely don’t want that.  We recommend always using high quality images for excellent quality retractable banners.

  1. What other signage do businesses use along with retractable banners?

Many businesses use retractable banners as one part of a combination of other signs such as custom tablecloths, tension fabric displays, tabletop banners and more.

At The Sign & Graphics Manufaktur Inc., we design, print and install banners of all shapes and sizes and we offer one hour of free graphic design with every single retractable banner order!
