One of the key things to consider is the viewing distance of the sign. Make sure your sign can be easily read from the viewing distance. A good rule of thumb is to increase the letter size by 1" for every 10 feet of viewing. So if the viewing distance is 70', the letters on your sign should be 7" in height.

While a smaller V-shaped sign can be freestanding, many larger and higher signs, must be installed using concrete to secure the posts into the ground.
