Louisville, KY – Marketing For Retail and Businesses with Lighted Sign Products

SYNOPSIS: This article covers how small businesses use custom lighted signs to increase marketing exposure and the different types of custom lighted signs available to choose from.

Channel Letter, Light Box, Monuments, and More

BY: ,
For thousands of years, signs have been used to inform and attract customers. In ancient Rome, for example, businesses would post signs to advertise their goods and services. Today, business owners continue to use all types of signs to promote their products and services. Benefits of Lighted Signs
  • High Visibility: Lighted signs are easy to see, even on bright and sunny days as well as from a distance. This makes them ideal for businesses open late or located on busy streets.
  • Attracts Customers: A well-designed lighted sign attracts customers who may not have noticed the business without a lighted sign.
  • Increases Sales: Studies have shown, businesses with well-crafted, lighted signs frequently see an increase in sales.
  • Cost-Effective: Signs are a relatively low-cost way to promote a business. Unlike other advertising methods, such as television, internet ads or radio ads, signs are a more cost-effective way to reach a target audience.
  • Professionalism: A well-designed sign conveys a sense of professionalism, which attracts customers when the signs look better than competing businesses.
Types of Lighted Signs
  • Channel Letter signs are three-dimensional signs commonly used for storefronts. The face, or "return," of the letter is cut to the shape of the letter or logo. Channel letters are made from aluminum, stainless steel, acrylic, or polycarbonate. They are typically illuminated with internal lighting elements which shine through the front, back, or both the front and back of the sign. They are mounted above the entryway of a building on a raceway, with spacers, or flush against the building.
  • Light box signs use internal illumination to display a message or image printed on a translucent panel. They can be hung on a wall, mounted on a pole, or placed in a window. The face of the sign is typically made from acrylic or polycarbonate, and the box itself is usually made from aluminum.
  • Monuments are free-standing signs usually made from stone, brick, or stucco, and commonly seen on the edge of a business's property or along a busy street. They are a powerful promotional tool. They are customized with sign elements and lettering, lighting, and even digital LED panels.
  • Pylon signs, or pole signs, are made from a box sign, either lighted or non-illuminated, and mounted on top of a tall pole or pylon. Due to this, locations may need a permit to install the sign. They are either double-sided or single-sided, free-standing signs and can also be a giant programmable digital display instead of a box sign. They often feature multiple tenant signs when installed at a business complex or strip mall.
  • Digital signs are a type of electronic sign used for a variety of purposes, including advertising, branding, and wayfinding. Digital signs are programmable and can display just about anything from basic information and text to images, videos, and custom graphics.
