Project: Glass Restoration & Window Film Installation Customer: Marriott World Center Resort and Spa Location:  Orlando, FL.

As the exclusive contractor for glass-related problems within the stunning Marriott World Center Resort and Spa, we were approached with an extremely unique task. The  massive skylight in the lobby bar was aged with visible rust spots and the film was in a state of  fatal deterioration. No rocket science here. Obviously we first had to restore the windows to the best condition possible. Next we would remove the old light-brown failing film and replace a new darker film for an improved look and better performance.

Nothing unusual....right?

WRONG!

Due to the complexity of the  skylights' glass architecture, this project was indeed a major undertaking. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this one says it all:

Yep, that's me outside on the top of the skylight. Strapped with safety harnesses, I had the arduous task of buffing the exterior glass and applying sealant to prevent further damage after removing the old brown failing tint.

Notice the angle of the slanted glass - more daunting than walking on eggs!

Areas of rust and corrosion were clearly visible before and after we removed the old film. These unsightly flaws were unacceptable for the grandeur of the world class Marriott Resort!

We buffed and we huffed until the exterior glass appearance was greatly improved. The next step was applying sealant to prevent further damage. After a thorough evaluation of our progress so far.. and a "thumbs up" from the Marriott's team of engineers, we began applying a darker, high-performance film that would also enhance the beauty of this spectacular skylight.

In these pictures you can see the difference between the old lighter brownish film, the glass panes with new darker solar-reducing film, and the glass panes that had no film. Though the project was unusual with a very high degree of difficulty, the end result was nothing unexpected. The successful restoration of the glass and the new window tint made a tremendous difference and saved the Marriott from having to spend a huge chunk of money for glass replacement. We were satisfied....the guests and the staff were satisfied....and most importantly the Marriott management team was satisfied. Written by: High Impact Glass S0lutions
