Students in schools come to learn, and lighting can play a big role in how that learning takes place.  Better lighting can help students focus and better analyze text within the classroom.  When focus is better, so are grades and overall learning, which plays such a major role in a student’s self-confidence.  Additionally, the right LED lighting in and on the school grounds can increase safety.  And it doesn’t stop there.  The money saved by investing in LED lights can be put back into improving education.  So, what kind of LED lighting is best for classrooms and schools?

Flat Panels

There are multiple benefits to flat panel LED lights commonly used within classrooms.  Replacing existing fluorescent lighting with LED lighting can reduce eyestrain and headaches, improve focus, and decrease drowsiness.  Fluorescent lighting doesn’t give the even, clear lighting that LED light provides which can make it harder for our brains to process images, leading to sensory overload.  In contrast, LED lighting installations keep students awake and alert.

Downlights

Downlights are usually hidden lights installed inside the ceiling.  One of the best benefits of downlights is the lack of space they take up.  Downlights in schools are often found in bathrooms, hallways, or cafeterias.  LED lights will help students navigate these areas safely and confidently.

Exit Lights

Emergency lighting is crucial and must perform optimally in emergencies.  An LED supplier can walk you through the best types of LED lighting for schools. These lights will need to be up to code and equipped with battery backup.

Area Lights

It's not only inside lightning that's important, but outside lighting as well.  LED lights can help increase security in crucial areas like parking lots and around the school perimeter. They can make it easier for security cameras to capture images of suspicious activity in or around the school.  No space is left unlit with proper LED lighting.
