With every new store opening, there are many things to do to get ready for the flow of business, one of which is to get all of the new signage in order! Although it may often be the last thing on your mind, having signage out long in advance of the actual grand opening can get passerby’s excited about your company and act as a simple form of advertisement.
Morana is a fashion retailer that specializes in jewelry and accessories – and they’re coming to Houston! More specifically, the fashion chain is opening up a retail location in the Galleria Mall.
Signs of Success has been working with Morana over the past couple of months, developing two sets of signs to be featured at their new location; one to be installed above the storefront, and the other to be hung above the cashier desk. Both sets of signs are virtually identical apart from their installation process.
We designed the giant channel letters using 2 inch think HDU (high density ureathane) dimensional lettering, as this specific type of acrylic is lightweight and easy to install. Additionally, we can match any color paint to HDU lettering, which allows a more versatile color selection. In Morana’s case, however, we stuck with a classic satin white gloss finish to match their logo and keep with the sleek, modern design of their brand.
When it came to the actual installation process, our team mounted the letters to a 1/2 inch thick rail which was attached to the soffit above the store entrance. Since the ledge that the letters were mounted to stuck out quite a bit, we quickly realized that we would need to add tabs designed to elevate the letters slightly so that the entire letter would be visible rather than appearing to be cut off at the bottom when you got close to the entrance.
Although simple, these channel letters offer the high quality look that gives a great first impression, and sets the tone for the ambiance of the store. Despite having the same design, the two separate locations serve very different functions. While the letters above the store entrance serve as a classic form of subtle advertising, the sign above the cashier’s desk serves as more of a decoration, adding a sort of high fashion appeal to the jewelry store.
