Project: Five Story Banner

We were first contacted by Exterran Holdings back in 2014 when they were first grouped among the top public companies in the city of Houston, ranking number 8 on the Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 list. On the day that the rankings were revealed, we were there to unveil Exterran’s place on the list with nothing less than a giant five story banner.
The picture shown above features the 16.5’ by 44.5’ banner suspended from the ceiling of the Exterran lobby.
Exterran is an oil and gas company that was founded in 2007 and has quickly risen to be a global leader in the oil and gas industry. With locations in countries all over the world, Exterran is a premier provider for both the production, project management, and equipment.
After Exterran received word that they would be featured in the Chronicle’s Top 100 List, we set to work designing a big banner that would showcase their even bigger accomplishments. We began by printing their design on 13 ounce banner material. The catch? We weren’t going to know their ranking until the morning of the install when the Top 100 List was revealed; needless to say, it made for a bit of a rush job! Fortunately, we do all production in house, which makes it possible for us to have a quick turn around from production to install.
When it came time for the actual install, we made our way into their 15 story lobby with special equipment that enabled us to go inside using specialized rubber tires. From there, we suspended the banners using the pull pockets on both the top and the bottom. On the top, the pull pockets were suspended from beams in the ceiling using a pulley system that we had designed for easy install and removal. On the bottom, the pull pockets were simply designed to weigh down the banner and prevent it from swinging through the lobby.
Banners in general function as a perfect medium for displaying upcoming events or recent accomplishments, and in Exterran’s case even served a double purpose as a lobby sign!
