At a chamber networking meeting I was introduced to a representative from MARC Community Resources. She indicated that they were in need of new signage at two of their locations – Middletown and Cromwell. The need was driven by a change in their branding. Further discussion with the client we learned the sign in Middletown would not only be a replacement of the double-sided panel, they wanted vinyl covers and post caps to cover up the existing posts. In Cromwell, the existing single sided sign would be removed entirely replaced with a new double-sided sign rotated 90 degrees significantly increasing the signs visibility to traffic approaching from either direction.
In the picture to the left you can see the Cromwell sign significantly old, faded and the gold vinyl is cracking. And being parallel with the road made it very difficult to see until you were right in front of it. You can see in the picture below, we rotated the sign 90 degrees, put the MARC Community Resources branding on both sides which made it significantly more see-able for traffic coming down the road from both directions.
MARC Community Resources is a non-profit agency empowering adults and children with intellectual and development disabilities to realize their dreams and make choices about their lives. MARC serves more than 200 adults and children in residential, vocational, leisure and self-advocacy programs throughout Middlesex, New Haven and Hartford County.
To create the panels for both the Middletown and Cromwell signs we used laminated print vinyl mounted to ¾ “ PVC substrate, routed to shape. The posts were clad with white vinyl sleeves and finished with a decorative white vinyl caps. An aluminum bracket was fabricated and used to secure the sign to the posts. The completed signs now gives MARC consistent branding across these two locations.
