We received a call from the owner of Fox Driving School, of Old Saybrook, CT to looking for a new building sign because they were moving their office and classroom to Clinton, CT.
After surveying the exterior layout of the building we explored a few different options. Discussing them with the landlord it was decided to go forward with dimensional letters mounted directly to the building. Additionally, the decision was made to add window graphic as well in order to incorporate the businesses fox logo.
I first met the owner of Fox Driving School back in 2013 when he decided to open up his own driving school and needed both interior and exterior signs to get his business noticed. We designed installed a 4ft x 8ft 3mm aluminum composite panel and installed it on an existing frame on the roof of the building. We also designed and installed vehicle graphics for the 2 cars that he purchased for the “behind the wheel” driving lessons. Having a history of providing quality products in the past they did not hesitate to contact us to discuss their current needs. In this case the dimensional letters and window graphics. 
Like all projects we like to start with a discussion with the client and a survey of the site where the signs are needed. This gives us an opportunity to determine what the customer’s needs and budget so we can provide them with the appropriate options for them to consider. In this case we proposed a flat panel with vinyl graphics and dimensional letters. For the dimensional letters we suggested two options – cut acrylic and formed plastic using the Goudy Extra Bold font. The client didn’t particularly like the flat surface of the acrylic or standard formed plastic letters. So, we recommended a custom formed plastic letter with a prismatic face. The client (and building owner) was very happy with this look. A 9” letter fit the specific area we had to work with and provided a very readable sign for those driving by. For the installation of the letters we used a drill pattern which ensures proper location of the letters. The finished product is shown in the photo.
