When we were finishing up a wall mural installation at The Lee Company, Westbrook, CT with LE Designers, the facilities manager talked about needing some window graphics on the main entrance to the building, as well as, a building sign which matched the existing signs.   Surveying the existing signs we determined the construction was based on a traditional aluminum tubing construction and panel with cut vinyl.

Measure the area where the sign would be mounted we determined the appropriate size to be 20” high by 72” long.   Given this is a new building and high tech company we thought we would give the sign a finished look and one where the fasteners would not be visible.   To do this we designed and fabricated internal angle brackets which were fastened to the aluminum frame with self-tapping screws.   We used similar screws to mount it to the building.    The sign panel we .040 thick aluminum with premium cast vinyl lettering mounted to it.   The panel is, also, mounted to the aluminum frame using self-tapping screws.    Hiding these screws was accomplished by cutting and fitting a molding to the sign.   The molding provides a nice framing to the sign and a finished look.    The lightweight components this sign made it easy to install.   Locating the position of the sign on the building the next step was to mount the frame, then the panel and finally the molding.  The finish product can be seen in the picture below. The design and construction used in this sign first of all met the requirements of the client.  In particular, it kept with the look of the other building signs and allowed us to stay within the client’s budget.   This type of construction also gave the client durable sign that will hold up well to the seasons in New England.
