If you have been driving for any length of time, you have probably had the need to be jumped off due to a dead battery. Sometimes it’s because you left a light on or the door open, but in other cases the battery might need to be replaced.

Our team is proud to offer professional auto services for people across the San Jose area. We work on all types of vehicles, and we have the right equipment, experience, and approach to take on any repair or maintenance need you might have.

In this article, we will discuss battery issues in the Toyota Corolla. The Corolla is one of the most reliable small cars on the road, but like any vehicle, it will eventually need a new battery. There are some warning signs of a failing battery, and in the sections to follow we will discuss a few of these occurrences and provide insight into when it’s time for a new battery.

Delayed Engine Crank

The first and most obvious sign of a failing battery in any Corolla is a slow crank when you turn the key or press the start button. You might hear the engine make a slow, struggling sound when trying to turn over, or you might even have to try to crank the car multiple times. Typically this will start as a minor change in the speed at which your car starts, and as the battery continues to weaken, the delay will become more obvious, slower, or won’t turn over at all. It’s best to have the battery checked out as soon as you notice the car isn’t cranking like it usually does.

Clicking Sound with No Crank

When a battery has lost the majority of its charge, you’re likely to hear a clicking sound when trying to crank the car. When this happens, the battery has enough charge to trigger the starter (which is the clicking sound) but not enough charge to turn the engine over. If your car is at this stage, you will likely need to get a jump start and drive to a shop right away.

Weak Lights, Windows, Etc.

Your car’s battery powers the electronics in the car, so when the battery starts to go you will likely notice issues with electronically powered elements of the vehicle. If your windows are very slow to roll down, your dashboard lights or headlights seem dimmer, or you have issues with the car’s entertainment system, the battery is likely to blame.

Professional Battery Replacement Available

No one wants to have car trouble, but a dead battery is part of life for every vehicle owner. Car batteries typically last around three to five years, so if you notice any of the symptoms above, it’s probably time for a new one. Luckily our team changes batteries on a daily basis, and we can get you a new battery quickly so you can get back on the road. If you need us to check out your battery, call us today or stop by so one of our experts can help.
