When you think of commercial and residential window films, what do you think of? Car tint? Privacy? Mirrored windows? Decorative films? While all of these things are related, they are not necessarily the main focus of commerical and residential films. Did you know that our line of Huper Optik Select Series films actually have heat-stopping and UV light rejection properties, which are best-in-class when compared to other film brands? It is no secret that when most people think of window tint, they think of limo tint on a car. In actuality, all films, especially commerical and residential, serve a multitude of other purposes aside from privacy, and we will take a look at just one of many examples in this week’s Job Review.
The Job Review for this week takes us to a house owned by long time clients of Solar Refelctions Services in Mountain Brook, AL. We were originally called to not only look at removing some old and fading window tint, but replace it with a film from Huper Optik’s Select Series called Cermaic 35. This film in particular is a single-layered ceramic film that allows only 35% visible light transmission (hence it’s name of Ceramic 35), drops interior temperatures 6-8 degrees on average, and rejects 99% of UV light entering through a window. In layman’s terms, Ceramic 35 still lets in 35% of the daylight outside while rejecting 99% of the sun’s harmful rays, all while lowering the heat absorbed through a window by up to 8 degrees on average. This film’s primary purpose is not privacy, but rather to stop heat and reject UV light that damages furniture, flooring, and other valuables that homeowners may not think are being exposed to the sun because they are inside the home. Additionally, Ceramic 35 is one of our most popular films not only because of its strong performance, but also because it is very hard to notice with the naked eye, especially if you don’t know what you’re looking for.
For this job in particular, our customers wanted a film that would not only stop the intense morning and afternoon sun, but protect all of the valuable furniture, flooring, and paintings within the house. Ceramic 35 was one of the films from Huper Optik we recommended to them, and after a thorough consultation, we were called to come install the new film. In the end, we replaced and/or installed Ceramic 35 on over 300 window panes throughout the home, giving our customers comfort and peace of mind.
