Brake pads may endure 30,000 to 70,000 miles of driving and rotors often last longer than the brake pads. Here are some signs your brake rotors need an inspection:- You feel vibration or pulsation when applying brakes.
- Your braking distances lengthen or become inconsistent.
- You see blue discoloration on the rotor surface.
- You hear grinding as you are braking.
- You see grooves or hot spots. If possible, you can remove your vehicle’s wheels and inspect if scores or cracks in the rotor are visible.
Overview of Brake Rotor Replacement
- We make sure you only need to make one visit to our shop at Oceanworks Berkeley by replacing the rotors in pairs. If brake pads aren’t also replaced, your rotors may become damaged. Your braking may also become unstable.
- We inspect the rest of the braking system, including lines, hoses, calipers, and top-off brake fluid.
