SYNOPSIS:

BY: Brian Reingtes, Oceanworks

Facing issues with your Lexus AC? Call a Lexus repair professional.

You should keep using your Lexus AC all-year-round to keep the hoses and valves from drying out as well as to maintain pressure for optimum compressor performance. In some cases, the AC starts leaking Freon or water. If it runs out of Freon, the AC will not cool the car.

Some other problems that could be affecting your AC’s cooling could be a clogged compressor or a clogged vacuum line. Regardless of the reason, if your Lexus AC is not functioning well, your driving experience will be compromised. Hence, if your Lexus AC is no longer blowing cool air, it’s time for some repair work.

Oceanworks II can help resolve all your Lexus AC issues in Berkeley, CA. To know when to call a professional, it’s important to understand how the Lexus AC works and some common telltale signs.

How Lexus AC System Works

The Lexus AC system is made up of four main components: the compressor, evaporator coil, condensing coil, and expansion valve. Its refrigeration cycle transmits heat from your Lexus passenger compartment to outside the vehicle. The Lexus AC utilizes circulating refrigerant that runs into the gas compressor located in the engine bay of the vehicle.

In the gas compressor, the gas vapor is compressed to produce high pressure that produces high temperatures. The condensed hot vapor is then routed through the Lexus’s condenser, which is located in front of the vehicle’s radiator, and is condensed into liquid, which is then cooled by airflow on condenser coils. This enables the circulating refrigerator to drive out all the heat from the cooling system that’s carried away by the airflow.

The condensed and pressurized liquid refrigerant is then treated with pressure reduction. The sudden decrease in pressure lowers the temperature of the liquid refrigerant. The refrigerant is then directed to the evaporated coil, from where cool air is blown into the Lexus passenger compartment.

When this cool air blows through the evaporator, the temperature in the passenger compartment further decreases. The refrigerant vapor is then directed back into the compressor, marking the completion of the refrigerant cycle.

When to Call a Lexus AC Repair Professional?

Now that you know how the Lexus AC system works, detecting any issues should be easier. Following are some signs that you need to call a professional for repairs:

  • If your Lexus AC cools the vehicle while drivingbut not when the vehicle is stationary
  • You sense a damp, musty smell indicating mold when the AC is switched on
  • It takes longer for the AC to cool your Lexus
  • Even at the highest fan setting, the Lexus defroster takes too long
  • The Lexus AC is blowing out air that’s only slightly cooler than the external temperature
