Is your car giving you a hard time? Maybe it’s the engine. Without the right amount of maintenance, a car engine can quickly break down. Over time, the high mileage and wear and tear will affect your engine, and a time will come when it will need replacement. Driving around in a vehicle, the engine of which is nearing its demise is harmful for several reasons. First of all, such a vehicle will give a poor fuel economy, and the number of emissions will be detrimental to the environment.   Here are a few signs your car engine needs replacement.   Too Much Exhaust Smoke  Sometimes, a car’s exhaust starts producing unnecessarily high amounts of smoke. Unfortunately, not many people pay attention and end up placing their cars in a lot of trouble. Smoke from the exhaust is a sign that some great internal damage has taken place. The extent of the problem depends upon the color of smoke. Blue smoke comes out when the oil burns. Black smoke is a sign that a lot of fuel has been burnt. White smoke, on the other hand, alludes to a leakage in the cooling system. The smoke problem arises out of burnt rings, engine cracks and similar problems.   Knocking Sounds  Sometimes the engine bearings get worn out. When that happens, the engine starts producing a weird knocking sound. The moving parts of the engine are rested on these bearings. If these moving parts get damaged, the engine will completely break down.   Metal Particles in the Engine Oil  Sometimes, while changing the engine oil, you will notice how dirty the previous oil has become. The dirty engine oil has nothing to do with dirt or grime. What you consider dirt is small metal pieces giving a darker color to the engine oil. These metal particles are born out of the wear and tear caused by metal components colliding against one another, as the car moves. It is only a matter of time before these metal components will break down, and make keep your engine from functioning.   Reduces Power  One of the most common telltale signs your engine needs replacement is a lack of power. Various reasons make an engine lose its power. Luckily, not all of those reasons require an engine replacement. However, to bring your engine back from the fringe of death, expensive repairs are inevitable.   Smoke Under the Hood  Spewing smoke from under the hood of your car isn’t a good sign, and you shouldn’t take it lightly either. There are several possibilities of smoke coming from under the hood, some of which are mentioned below.
  • The engine works at a higher temperature.
  • The gaskets of blown up.
  • The moving parts are beginning to melt.
If your car exhibits any of the above-mentioned signs, schedule a replacement right away, to restore your car’s functionality.   If you are looking for a car mechanic in Berkley, CA, don’t worry, for we have got you covered. For more information, visit our website now.
