Each class is different, as each class is all about stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breathing as a way to connect each pose to the next.  It’s commonly referred to as “flow” yoga because of the flowing way in which one pose connects to the next.

In one typical example of Vinyasa Yoga, you might be in a seated position and instructed to inhale your arms up, then exhale your arms down, repeating this for a few breaths. This a type of “flow”.

Is Vinyasa Yoga Different Than Other Styles of Yoga?

In Vinyasa Yoga, not only the positions themselves are the focus, but also the transitions in and out of each position. Also, in a vinyasa yoga class you don’t usually remain in poses long. Vinyasa Yoga is much more moving than other types of yoga, which makes it a good exercise for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Is Vinyasa Yoga a Good Stress Relief?

Yes, 100%! For stress relief, Vinyasa is unbelievable. You can get the blood flowing by continuous motion with breath and accomplish a little bit of that “moving meditation.” Countless trials have shown that yoga in every style can alleviate stress and anxiety. In particular, the practices incorporating “moving meditation” will influence your emotional and mental stress profoundly and positively.
