What Is The Aim Of Meditation?

Meditation is a specific strategy for relaxation and acquisition of an entirely different state of consciousness than a normal waking state. It is the way to understand all the layers of ourselves and to eventually reach the centre. Meditation is not a religion; it is a science, indicating that the meditation method follows a specific order, has certain rules and outcomes which can be verified.

The Essence of Meditation

Although we can talk about different practices for meditation, if the true purpose of meditation was not understood, that would have no meaningful effect on us. We should all ask ourselves a question here: What am I going to gain from that practice? Do I want to improve my general health and wellbeing, or is it just about improving my entire world view and leading a happier life? We may know so much from looking indoors. According to the esteemed meditator, Trinlay Rinpoche, each one of us has a rich gold mine. All we look for–health, wealth, happiness and authentic well being–comes from our heart. Using meditation, you can tap into these abundant reservoirs and experience a tremendous difference in your life.

The Main Goal of Meditation

Meditation aims to separate our minds from the unwieldy thought which frequently occupies our mind and harmonizes with our inner consciousness. We develop a more profound consciousness of ourselves and all around us (and all). Each meditator knows, however, that the mind is the greatest obstacle to this consciousness. It’s unrighteous and unruly. You don’t like to be led on a straight, focused course. This is why many newbies end up disappointed after the first couple of sessions. The goal of meditation, however, is to be consistent and continuous.

Sometimes it’s difficult to meditate every day even for the most experienced meditators. And, is it not funny to watch TV, go shopping, and do it all? However, if we realize how important meditation is at all levels for our well-being, we naturally give it top priority and include it in our lives. The wise meditation teachers of yesteryear taught that the purpose of meditation is not to remain in a blissful bubble forever–the goal is to encourage wellbeing and finally to end suffering. After a few weeks of daily meditation, meditators also report rewarding experiences. Those who consider meditation a hard task actually have to change their standards. When we understand the overwhelming benefits of meditation, we continue to really enjoy it. Therefore, we will gladly spend more time meditating until our practice is secondary.

Here are some excellent reasons to devote time and energy for meditation:

  • Inner peace and calmness.
Just imagine what happens when your homework is too long neglected. Mud and dust are building up, waste is stacking up, and all is out of control. Consider your body like your house now. Every day, a lot of garbage is stored in your mind, soul and body. The thoughts, perceptions and resources can be negative. This garbage will accumulate toxic levels when you neglect daily conscious meditation. If you remain unprocessed, you can experience feelings of stress, anxiety and depression that can affect your quality of life. Regular meditation can combat this toxicity by producing a profound sense of calm and tranquility. This is a very enjoyable experience in itself.

  • The ability to abide in the present moment.
People tend to overlook the simple power of here and now to live. You’re in the moment for meditation. It will hopefully calmer you down and make you calmer. Your consciousness of yourself will also improve and your thinking, feelings and feelings will be easier to recognize without necessarily reacting to it. It gives you a taste to live in the present moment. A mind tuned to the present is less likely to be overcome by negative, anxious or overwhelming thoughts about the past or the future. Studies indicate that the actual brain is diverted to consciousness meditation. The brain areas that cause anxiety, depression and poor concentration are decreasing while the intellect, satisfaction and calmness regions are increasing in size.

  • Unlocking the source of inspiration.
In terms of two components, conscious and subconscious, the active mind is visible. The conscious mind is in charge of rational thinking and decision-making. The long-term memory does not exist. Actually, a single thought is processed at once. The subconscious mind can be the source of great creativity, ideas and solutions; it is proposed that “the conscious mind commands and the subconscious executs.” Some meditators are keen to unlock joy and creativity from the inside. Meditation makes the mind restless and, with the same token, allows more room to open itself to the inherent inventiveness of the mind.
  • Well-being and fulfillment.
We all want to lead happy lives that fulfill. Most of us seek our happiness from external sources–association, material circumstances, appreciation, etc. This can be successful if things go our way, but when we depend on events outside our control for happiness, we collapse into failure because external conditions change constantly. We’re fine one day, we’re sick the next day. We are workers one day of the month, packing up and going the next day abroad. We’re one day in deep love, we’re not next day.
  • Goodwill.
Buddhists believe meditation and compassion go hand in hand for a long time. Studies that confirm this belief are now available. One explanation is that focus seems to reinforce our relation, and the acknowledgement of interaction inevitably induces empathy. Professor David DeSteno of psychology writes in an article published in the Atlantic magazine: “Mindfulness meditation[…] has been recently promoted because of its ability to heal the mind, but many of its more experienced professors argue that it is soul’s fundamental purpose.
