[caption id="attachment_1251" align="alignleft" width="300"] "Naked" corridor floor at an airport[/caption] Pictures on the floor. Designs on the floor.  Who puts pictures on the floor anyway?  They are going to get walked on! Think of high school, college or university mascots. Think of basketball courts.  Think of church recreational areas or community rec centers.  Those are just some of the groups out there who can convey the excitement of an event or to show off their pride in their organization. These can be done using time consuming and expensive paint jobs. Today many are made by using stick on masks with painting done over them.  This is easier and faster than a pure paint job from the past, but we also have the option to do these even faster by using a single step operation to produce durable results.  There are materials available that will withstand the repeated use and abuse of sneakered feet running up and down the court, and at the end of the game, the mascot or crest or logo of the organization will still be there in vibrantly colored splendor.  Modern sign-making techniques can produce both methods, but a pure printing method gives a facility the option to make seasonal changes or more frequent changes that may fit with a curriculum or thematic display changes. Let’s go a step further. Businesses, schools, universities – any of these organizations can brighten up floors and provide directions, levity, quotes, logos or other designs to add excitement or uniqueness to the setting.  Exit routes or directions can be printed on high quality and abrasion resistant materials for short term or long term usage for retail establishments and shopping malls, factories, schools, museums, hospitals and all sorts of public buildings and on a wide variety of floor material types. Floor graphics can be seasonal. They can also be more permanent.  Customized floor graphics such as a “yellow brick road”, a river basin or trail layout, footprints, “this way to your exhibit or classroom” graphics or greetings at entrance lobbies or other themed applications are possible.  If one can think of a topic for an application, the design and product can be generated. So what else goes along with floors? Do you have staircases? One can continue warning signs and directional signs on the risers of the stairs.  Even whimsical artwork or advertisements can be placed on staircase risers.  Imagine being in a large entertainment venue like an arena where some attendees will view the stairs from across the arena.  The vertical face of the risers can be used collectively to provide a single image or advertisement clearly viewable and better appreciated from that distance.  Make those surfaces work for you whether in a school, community or commercial venue such as an arena or mall or trade show venue. Are you excited about your walking surfaces? What are you walking on?
