For anyone with a truck, van, or anything with privacy glass, we will always be asked what percentage the rear windows meter out to be and what we can put on the front windows to match the back. The most important thing to keep in mind about factory tint is that it does not have any performance or protective qualities, other than a bit of privacy. Adding window film to a vehicle provides 99.9 percent UV protection, glare reduction, heat rejection, shatter-resistance, and more privacy. Ultimately, we’ll do what the customer wants, but we always suggest tinting a whole vehicle and not just the two front windows.
So, if matching the rear windows is our customer’s desire, we’ll tint the two front windows to 25, 30, or 35 percent. Any of these films will match the rears nicely. However, being a shop in the State of Minnesota restricts us to the legal limit of 50% on the two front windows for any truck, SUV, van, etc. We’ll gladly tint windows beyond the legal limit, given our customer has a medical prescription.
