Your Homeowners Insurance Policy potentially has many different coverage’s built into the policy and sometimes these are included and other times they are optional. One very important coverage that you will want to ask about next time you renew your Home Insurance is Service Line Coverage. Chances are that you have more than one service line that connects your home to the grid or infrastructure. 
Damage to service lines can be expensive to repair and the utility company will not pay for the repair if it is inside your property as defined by them (meaning you may be responsible all the way to the main connection even if it is in the middle of your street. Some common examples of damage to service lines can be from tree roots, corrosion, ground freeze, rodents, lightning strikes or landscaping accidents. 
In some cases, damage to one of these lines may require that you need to temporarily relocate until the problem is resolved.
Service Line Coverage and Loss of Use is generally not very expensive to add to your policy but could save you thousands if a loss occurs. Next time you are reviewing your Homeowners Insurance, you will definitely want to make sure that you have service line coverage.
