All of us are looking forward to 2021 in hopes that we can put the pandemic behind us.  We realize that this is not the best headline for any California Homeowner, but the reality is that we received notifications from three very large insurance companies that the Non-Renewal notices are coming.   In some cases, the non-renewal notices will be delayed until the 2022 renewal because the Insurance Commissioner has placed a moratorium for non-renewals in many of California’s most affected fire-prone areas.  While this is helpful in the short term, it doesn’t really solve the problem.  There are going to be a lot of policies that need to be replaced.

What should you do if you receive a non-renewal notice?  Hopefully your agent contacted you to let you know they have options for you.  If not, we encourage you to call us.  There is a fire insurance program in California that provides coverage up to a combined limit of $3,000,000 and while this is only Fire insurance, some carriers are offering a policy which adds other homeowners insurance coverage’s.  This combination may be the best and only option for many homeowners.
