It is the week before Christmas and all through the universe, crazy things are happening so just be aware…well okay not how the famous poem reads BUT! We see claims activity increase during this time of year, from increases in burglaries to lots of fender-bender‘s. 
Thieves need gifts too and how convenient when they’re already wrapped! Car accidents increase due to people rushing around trying to get ready for the holidays. Bottom line? This is NOT the time to be without insurance. Really no time is a good time to be without insurance, but during the holidays it seems to be more pressing than usual. 
If you have a homeowners policy or renters insurance policy, and your residence gets burglarized, you will have coverage up to the policy limit. On the other hand, car insurance policies are going to have a limited coverage for personal property with in the vehicle. So, if your car gets broken into, insurance company will likely pay to repair the glass minus your deductible, but they will not pay for the items that are stolen from the vehicle. Most of us are very aware of the high number of car break-ins happening these days. There’s no real way to ensure that your car doesn’t get broken into, so it’s best not to leave anything in the vehicle. Even empty bags can be perceived as having items of value inside.
Another sad and frustrating situation that occurs is the loss of an item or jewelry that disappears mysteriously. The only way you can insure an item for “mysterious disappearance” is to schedule that item on your policy. Jewelry can be scheduled, and if it mysteriously disappears, it will be covered by your insurance policy.
