Window graphics for limited store fronts in Phoenix, AZ

The Jerk Hut in Phoenix, Arizona had a problem. The Hut specializes in authentic Jamaican cuisine and has been rated as the best in the metropolitan area. The problem was that their store front is relatively small and easily overlooked. However, the space does have three large windows which can support larger format graphics. The catalyst for a window make-over was the fact that the left window had to be replaced and the existing graphics were now only two-thirds there.

The windows originally sported a large two-color cut vinyl logo and phone number, but with the left-hand window being replaced the logo was no longer readable. Rather than just repairing the cut vinyl, the restaurant owners contacted Designs Phoenix for a complete re-design. The goals were to better represent the restaurant in terms of graphic interest, better definition of the restaurant offering, and to highlight certain menu items. The windows needed more wow-factor to make them standout and be noticed.

We consulted with the owners to get their concepts and design ideas and then we went to work. The restaurant features spicy food and the owners liked the idea of using fire graphics to emphasize that. We felt that spelling out the Jerk Hut’s mission of providing Authentic Jamaican Cuisine should be highlighted. We definitely needed the restaurant logo and phone number. And we wanted to highlight several popular menu items.

The windows provide visibility to the outside and that visibility needed to be maintained, so the design was executed in perforated vinyl – window perf as it is known. The two outside windows were given full graphic coverage; the middle was given a cut vinyl treatment. Below are before-and-after pictures of the restaurant. We are excited to see the impact of the new design on the Jerk Hut’s business. Ox Tail anyone?
