Today, I’d like to share a stunning custom lobby sign, a piece of the new construction signage package, for a medical office in Avondale, AZ. Backlit Custom Lobby Signs provide a high end look and economical ongoing operation
The sign is designed with a halo lit style. The aluminum sign panel is just a bit smaller than the niche it occupies in the medical office. This proves just enough gap for the back lighting to reflect off of the side walls and show a very attractive halo glow from all around the sign. The lighting itself is led strips that use very little electric power and have a very long life expectancy. This sign can remain lit all of the time for very little cost and nearly no maintenance.
Here are the Details About the Sign
This is a composite custom lobby sign made from Aluminum and acrylic. It is halo illuminated with low voltage led lighting on the rear of the aluminum panel. The led strips, themselves, are enclosed in diffusers that effectively soften the light. They also do a great job of eliminating any hot spots or uneven patterns in the halo’s glow. The aluminum itself is a heavy 1/4″ thick panel, custom cut to set for the niche provided behind the reception area during the medical office new construction. An outlet was also designed into the niche to allow for the led transformer to be totally concealed behind the sign. The aluminum sign panel has circular brushed images embossed into its surface. Following that step, a regular pattern of small holes are drilled into the aluminum panel to allow the back lighting to ghost through and give this stunning effect. Finally, the aluminum is clear coat painted with a matte finish clear to minimize any reflection glare from the substrate.
The sign panel is black acrylic, laser cut using precise CNC equipment, mounted to the aluminum panel with decorative brushed aluminum standoffs. Finally, laser cut white acrylic lettering and logos are chemically bonded to the black acrylic sign substrate to complete the look. The white on black scheme works particularly well with the halo lighting approach. The white letters grab the light filtering through and show nicely against the gloss black acrylic. Lastly, two ceiling mounted spot light cans provide just the finishing touch to make the white lettering and logo really pop.
