Music brings people together in ways that transcend seeming differences of all kinds. It’s no wonder music plays a role in the spiritual experience for people across the world. At the Oakland Center for Spiritual Living we offer a music ministry that makes a positive impact on our participants.

Music and Spirituality
There is a definite link between music and spirituality, and we believe this should be celebrated in a group setting. Music can stir emotion, and when you want to celebrate the life you are given, music can provide the perfect outlet to do so. Many people express their emotions through lyrics, and when performed in a group setting music can help us understand each other’s viewpoints, struggles, and the context of our lives.
Involvement for Everyone
Many people are concerned they won’t feel the impact of spiritual music because it’s not to their taste — they might feel excluded or bypassed as too old, too young, too “hip”, too whatever. At the Oakland Center for Spiritual Living we have carefully curated a collection of musical acts which offer deeply spiritual messages, yet come from many different styles or genres of music. We feature all types of performers, including groups and individuals who bring to us diverse music such as Gospel, Jazz, Hip Hop, Classical, Pop, Blues and New Thought Traditional. One Sunday you may hear a harp backed by drums; another Sunday there may be a solo flute; another Sunday a full band; another Sunday an incredibly talented pianist with an equally talented singer.
Welcoming Spiritual Environment
We welcome everyone and pride ourselves on diversity. We want you to experience our music ministry in the way which most directly speaks to your soul and your rhythm. If you are a musician and express yourself, we welcome performers, but if you just like to sing, dance or feel the rhythm as part of your divine nature, feel free to dance in the aisles and clap and pull others in with you.
