So, we thought this would be just another great day at Sport Clips Dixie Dundas.
And it was.
But it was also quite special.
Why?
Because we had one of our regulars, Joe, came in for a haircut, but this time around he had a special request for a special event.
A job interview? A promotion?
No, Joe was getting engaged that very night! We were incredibly excited for Joe at the store, but that didn’t let us get distracted from what really mattered: Joe needed to look great for one of the most important nights of his life. And this time around he didn’t want his regular haircut, he wanted to surprise his soon to be fiancée.
So first of all, we were blushing with pride, that Joe would put such trust in us for this special day. Second, we knew that we had to give him some ideas of a hairstyle that would work.
Usually, he gets a conventional taper with our number 4 clipper with a straight neckline, medium length sideburns, and the top thinned out. But this time around he wanted to surprise and impress, we thought a French crop would be the way to go.
In this case there was a fade in the sides, if ever so slightly tapered. We cut back the sideburns for consistency, kept the straight neckline, but most important, there was a well-defined, curly long fringe on top.
Why did we think that this particular cut would make sense? Joe is a young professional from a conservative family, so we picked a hairstyle that would speak both to his bold, daring attitude toward life, as well as his respect for traditions. With this new haircut he would be sending the message to his better half: this is me, down-to-earth and responsible, but also looking for adventure and a new life!
