Failing AC Compressor Signs from an Auto Repair

The AC compressor is one of the most important components of any car’s AC system. It is the heart of the entire air conditioning system. It consists of two ports. An outlet and an inlet, also known as ‘discharge’ and ‘suction’. It is the pump responsible for creating the heat by putting the AC refrigerant under extreme pressure. Regardless of how important it is, the AC compressor is not above getting bad sometimes. In the same vein, it also isn’t difficult to know when you are experiencing an air conditioner compressor failure. A failing AC compressor leaves signs which are easy to detect. Below are a few failing AC car compressor signs to let you know your AC compressor needs to repairs. They are;
  • Loud Noise:
Noise is a regular thing when the air conditioning system operates. But when there is a loud noise when your AC switches on and off, that is a sign of a bad compressor. There are several components in the AC compressor's interior. A sealed bearing comes in use when it turns. In a situation where the internal bearings seize or the interior components are bad, then it would release all sorts of loud noise. Meet an expert technician to help you check it out and make the necessary repairs.
  • Compressor clutch problems:
For the compressor to turn well and only when it needs to, the clutch comes into play. It enables the pulley to engage and disengage from the car's engine power. Should it break, the compressor will not receive the engine power. A bad clutch is another sign of a failing compressor. An experienced mechanic can tell you if the clutch needs replacement or the entire compressor.
  • Leakage of Fluid:
Fluid leakage is another sign of a failing car AC compressor. Always try to fix every air conditioning leak you observe in your car as fast as possible. There are internal bearings in the AC compressor that prevents the leaking of refrigerants or fluids. If those bearings are bad or worn out, they would give way to leaks which will in turn damage the AC compressor. If you can’t pick the sounds made by a faulty AC compressor, then be on the lookout for the leaks.
  • Zero or No Cooling:
This is one of the most popular signs of a bad or failing AC car compressor. It tends not to have the same cooling effect any more. With time, the AC loses its ability to keep the car cool. The bad compressor will not bring out hot hair immediately. It switches between bringing our cool air to not bringing out the cool air. At some point, the AC stops cooling the car, and everywhere gets hot. If you notice these signs from your car, then it means you have a failing AC compressor. Such problems need repairs as fast as possible to avoid further damage to other components. Contact us today and book an appointment. Let us help you get your car a complete check and offer you the best AC repair services and maintenance in California.
