For more than a year, Spark Signs has been assisting the Oxford Athletic Club with the renovation of their Wexford health and fitness club. A good portion of the athletic club was remodeled and our client wanted the signage to match the updates and remodeling of the club itself. We supplied a variety of functional, yet unique, interior business signs and graphics during the rebranding process.
The images show identification and wayfinding signs, as well as the window graphics we installed at the Oxford Athletic Club. For example, the black acrylic studio signs bearing the room name along with the Oxford wall sign. Also included are window graphics that provide privacy as well as an aesthetic look. Since 1998, the Oxford Athletic Club has served as the premiere fitness center for the greater Pittsburgh area. With the vision of being the most elite club in the region for health, wellness, and socialization, Oxford remains the guiding force today. Their world-class tennis and racket-sport facilities have achieved regional and national acclaim. Their beautiful indoor and outdoor aquatics centers offer access to top-notch aquatic activities year-round. The fitness center, indoor track, and full gymnasium provide options for all ages and interests to lead a fit and active lifestyle. They strive to enhance every aspect of their members’ well-being—body, mind, and spirit—through an unparalleled, experience-driven brand supported by completely customizable fitness programs, holistic wellness, and an engaging social environment.
Our client went through extensive research which included gaining information from the membership while planning the renovation. So it was no surprise that for each sign and area of the club, the client had specific thoughts or ideas about what signage they wanted. We listened and returned with a variety of options.
We installed multiple identification signs throughout the club. Every studio had a specific symbol to identify the room. We routed black acrylic and mounted the signs off the wall to create an extradimensional aspect. The Market Café received a vertical black acrylic sign that included the Oxford logo and was adhered directly to the column entering the café area. To ensure the Oxford Club was ADA compliant, we fabricated signage to identify specific rooms, bathrooms, service rooms, stairwells, and offices. We created two styles. One out of green edged acrylic to mimic glass and the other out of black PVC and brushed aluminum with black tactile lettering and braille.
To help members and visitors navigate the facility, we installed directory signs throughout the building. Each sign was made of ¼” green-edged acrylic with rounded corners. We applied an etched vinyl Oxford logo on the back of the glass and the room names on the front were cut from black vinyl. This process created another authentic design for our client.
To serve as privacy, branding, and room identification we offered three types of interior window graphics for the Oxford Athletic Club. The glass windows in the private wi-fi lounge rooms received an etched banding and plotted logo on them to create privacy while in use. On the RIDE Studio door, we installed full block-out vinyl and a translucent film on the others to help add some privacy.
We worked directly with a wide variety of stakeholders from the Marketing Director to designers to the club’s management team to ensure brand continuity from sign to sign. Our clients were pleased with our attention to detail, our quick turnaround time, and our flexibility and creativity.
