Julie Heverly is the Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association in Pittsburgh. The Association recently moved from the South Side to downtown Pittsburgh and wanted to install some signs to brand their new space. When they called us to help, we were excited to be their choice for local sign company.
Please take a moment to look at the photos in this article. They show the two different types of signs that we installed for them – a sign for their lobby area and wall graphics for their conference room. As you can see, they look great, and they are high-impact signs that are easily noticed.
The American Diabetes Association was established “to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.” From their website, “Approximately 300,000 people in Western Pennsylvania have diabetes. An additional 100,000+ are still undetected. It is estimated that one out of every three children born in the United States will be directly affected by diabetes. The American Diabetes Association’s Pittsburgh office is committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and support those living with the disease.”
We take pride in all of the signs that we make for all of our clients. But for this project, we wanted to make sure to deliver the best result possible for such an important association and cause.
For the lobby sign, it’s important to make a great first impression and have a sign with a lot of impact when volunteers and donors enter their offices. As you can see in the photos, the red background with the white lettering on top creates great contrast and pop. Another way to give the sign a little bit extra visual detail is with standoffs. We used 1″ silver standoffs that are mounted in between the sign and the wall, thus adding an extra level of dimension.
The other signage seen in the photos is custom wall graphics. The wall was newly painted red, so we applied white lettering to match the same branding theme as their lobby sign and logo. They wanted to use their conference room wall as an opportunity to brand the space and also help deliver some of their most important messages to anyone that enters the space. We used a high quality white vinyl film which was cut and adhered directly to the wall. At any point in time, the wall graphics can be removed, replaced or changed out, without harming the surface of the wall underneath.
