Clients: Robert & Susan [caption id="attachment_627" align="alignleft" width="150"] Cabinets, walls & floor were gutted from the kitchen & laundry room.[/caption] A local general contractor in Jenkintown, Montgomery County, PA referred us to a client of his. In the recent cold weather, a frozen water pipe burst in the kitchen. It flooded throughout the kitchen and laundry room causing water damage on the main floor, and all the way down to the basement and crawlspace. Since this old Victorian house is primarily made of wood, it could be the perfect breeding ground for mold if something wasn't done fast. The client has a beautiful Victorian era home. The owner is a passionate "hobby" chef, with a kitchen that shows how serious he is about cooking. It's a newer, upgraded  kitchen, with all professional grade appliances. It's a kitchen they were very proud of, and it got destroyed by the water damage from that broken pipe. [caption id="attachment_626" align="alignright" width="150"] Air movers and dehumidifiers drying out the area[/caption] The general contractor called S.T.O.P. - Service Team Of Professionals of Eastern PA  to work with him, and prevent any further damage to the house. We coordinated efforts with the contractor to get the house dried out ASAP. The contractor was very local, and experienced, so he had already removed the water logged cabinets, drywall and insulation in the kitchen and laundry room.  Since the water flooded down into the basement and crawlspace, we needed to vacuum up all the water from those areas using an industrial shop vac. Drying out the house was the biggest issue. We used industrial air movers and dehumidifiers to dry out all the floors & walls in the kitchen and laundry room. We also ran the dehumidifiers in the basement and crawlspace to dry out those areas as quickly as possible. After a couple days, we were sure everything was completely dry. To keep the possibility of any mold growing in the damaged areas, an anti-microbial spray was used on all the affected areas, that were now completely dry. The contractor is now working with the family to rebuild their kitchen and laundry room.
