Houston, TX – 3 Eco-Friendly Office Tips for Your Commercial Recycling Program

BY: Eric Coan, Mission Recycle

In today’s day and age, there is a common push to go green, both at home and in the office.

If going eco-friendly seems overwhelming, there are a few simple places to start. Follow these four tips to begin the process of creating an eco-friendly office.

Recycling

Office recycling is a great place to start. Putting up recycling bins, reminder signs, and starting an office recycling team can be a great way to encourage office recycling among employees.

Schedule regular office recycling pick-ups with a commercial recycling company and get on board with an eco-friendly office recycling program.

Food

Another way to encourage eco-friendly habits in the office workplace is to make some adjustments in the kitchen. Consider bringing reusable lunch containers, water bottles, or coffee cups to work.

In the kitchen itself, switch to washable utensils instead of disposable. Get rid of paper plates and replace them with dishes. Change the disposable coffee filters to reusable ones.

These simple changes can make a world of difference.

Lights

Making sure all the office lights are off at the end of the day is another great way to reduce your carbon footprint. But remembering to turn out the lights can be difficult. Installing motion sensor light switches will take care of the problem for you as lights will turn off themselves when no motion in the room is detected. It can also be beneficial to switch to more eco-friendly light bulbs such as LED bulbs that don’t burn out as often and use less electricity than other types of bulbs.

While it can seem daunting to try to do your part to make an impact on the environment, it can be a great idea to start small. Even the smallest of things makes a difference. Starting with these eco-friendly adjustments in the office workplace can lead to making a big impact. For more information about office recycling, contact Mission Recycle.
