Recently, we installed window tinting film on a home in the Washington DC Metro area. We received a call from a homeowner that wanted to have window tinting film installed in order to protect his artwork. As you can see in the images above and below, this homeowner has a very nice collection that is very well presented in a beautiful room inside of a beautiful home. As you can see, there are skylights that allow for a lot of natural light to come in for high visibility in the room during the day. When viewing fine art, it's important to have a lot of light so you can see all the details of the artwork. A dark and dingy room is not fit for displaying fine art. However, with all that natural sunlight coming in, you have to be concerned about sun damage. Specifically, ultraviolet rays cause fading and deterioration to artwork, as well as other home furnishings, woodwork, and flooring. With window tinting film, we can apply one of many different products that will filter out 99.9% of the unwanted UV rays, as well as help control solar heat and reduce glare. By reducing glare, the eye doesn't have to work as hard to filter out excessive sunlight, making it easier to see and improving the view looking out your windows, or in this case, to better see fine artwork inside. Skylights are a great way to bring in a lot of light to your home. You see them often in kitchens, bathrooms, libraries or studies, offices, and of course, fine art rooms like this one. But without proper window tinting film on your skylights, you can get glare problems, excessive heat and fading. No matter if it's fine artwork that you're trying to protect, or simply keeping the air-conditioning bill lower, window tinting films are a great, low-cost solar control solution, and are often up to half the cost of window treatment options like blinds, or shutters.
