If you have a really good view, or just enjoy the outdoors and like having natural light come into your home, you might not want to have blinds, shutters or other window treatments that shut the natural light out. But at the same time you still need to be able to control the sun so that it doesn't get too hot in your home, which can cause an increase in your air conditioning bill. You also want to be able to prevent UV rays from entering your home, which can cause fading interior furnishings and floors. So a great alternative to window coverings are window tinting films. They come in an assortment of materials and shades, and can help control the sun by filtering out unwanted UV rays, but still allowing the light in.
A recent customer of ours, a homeowner in Vienna, Virginia, contacted us because they were looking for alternatives to window coverings for this same reason - to be able to enjoy the view all day long. They told us that the whole reason they bought this nice home with all those beautiful windows was because of the wooded lot that the home sits on. In the image above, you can see the woods behind the home that encircle the property.
For this project we installed Huper Optik Ceramic 40 window tinting film. This is a great film for home window tinting applications, and it cuts out 99.9% of ultraviolet rays, 83% infrared rays and solar heat.
As you can see in the picture, when we installed the film it was on a cloudy day. If it were a sunny day you would really notice the difference how the sun is controlled and filtered which enhances the view greatly. But cloudy days are actually the worst case scenario for trying to take a picture that shows how well these films work. If the window films weren't installed, you wouldn't be able to see out the windows at all. So actually, this picture does a good job demonstrating how well these window tinting films work.
