Everybody likes big windows and lots of sunlight in their home. Natural light is important for human beings to get on a daily basis. It helps to balance our psyche, and even helps lower pains and aches in our joints.
But with lots of sunlight and lots of windows in your home come other problems. The most obvious problem is the amount of heat and glare coming into your home. If you’re in an area of the country that gets hot, like in Franklin, TN, it can really make the summer months uncomfortable. And if you find that you need to run your air conditioner throughout the day just to keep your home cool, it can get very expensive.
Another very common problem with homes that receive too much sunlight is sun damage. Your home furnishings – from your couch to your rugs. and everything in between – can become faded and damaged by the sun over time. Recently, we received a call from a homeowner in Northumberland, TN. This homeowner had been referred to us by a coworker of their’s who is also a previous client of ours. She has a large home with a lot of windows, and wanted a window film that would look great, allow enough light in, and block out unwanted sun rays and heat.
We installed Huper Optik Ceramic 30 window film on the entire back of the home. Our client also had a window above their tub in the master bathroom that looks out over the property. Instead of just a typical window film, we recommended a white frost decorative film. It is more cost effective and attractive than shutters or wood blinds, and still allows the room to be well lit by the sunlight during the day.
